How to transform your home into a holiday destination

How to transform your home into a holiday destination

Many of us will choose not to travel overseas for a while yet - maybe opting for a holiday within the UK, maybe spending some time at home and enjoying local days out or simply having friends and family over for long-awaited stay overs.

That doesn't mean to say we aren't yearning for a bit of overseas adventure though! If you can't go on your dream holiday, why not transform some of the rooms in your home in the style of some favourite holiday destinations to tie you over until foreign travel is a bit more open. Here we have picked out some popular destinations and looked at how you can bring their influence into the home.

The Hamptons

This East Coast legend conjures up images of high-ceilinged sunny and light airy rooms by the sea. Hamptons style interiors are bright, light and airy with a relaxed beach vibe. White reclaimed wood furniture is the perfect choice to get the look right, mix this with soft neutral colours like sand, light green, yellow and blue for the ocean. When it comes to textiles you can mix stripes and gingham with florals and natural fabrics, soft colours work best for this look.

The Dorset Reclaimed Wood collection fits this looks perfectly - make its coffee table with drawers the focal point of your seating area, or the reclaimed wood dining table a dining space showpiece - these beautiful pieces feature a natural wood top that sits on the whitewashed reclaimed wood frame.

New York city

When we speak of NYC we immediately think of trendy bare brick loft apartments. For this, the obvious choice would be no-fuss, functional, industrial furniture. The loft is typically an open multi-functional space with a zoned living space. In this space, you might have a dining and sitting area, an open plan kitchen and even an office space.

Get this pared-back loft look in your home by simply bringing in pieces such as an industrial dining table and an industrial sideboard. The Standford Industrial Reclaimed Wood range has much to offer with everything from bedroom furniture to office furniture to dining room furniture so you can really get the loft-inspired look here at home.

The Fjords

The world-famous Norwegian Fjords are a site to behold, as is the Scandinavian interior style. This minimalist and modern design style started becoming popular outside the Fjords in the 1950's and has continued to gain momentum ever since. Making the most of natural daylight is one of the main influencers of this style.

For this interior scheme, you need to bring in some lovely pale reclaimed wood Scandinavian furniture - the Chelwood range is ideal for this, stylish functional furniture that you can bring into a crisp white-walled room - perfect for hiding away clutter which is so important in Nordic style.

Singapore

Go oriental and be inspired by Asian style - rich dark wood blended with natural textures and elements of nature. We think the Knightsbridge Reclaimed Wood collection is perfect for this look. The rustic qualities of the wood and darker finish has a distinct oriental feel, whilst the slim metal legs and detail add a contemporary twist. To reinforce the Eastern feel add some silk and natural stone accessories, together with tropical palms.

Hi Rob, thank you for reading our blog and leaving a comment. Are you still looking for a writing desk?

Hello again – need more reclaimed wood furniture. I’m looking for a writing bureau but without all the frills. I recently purchased your media cabinet so something along those lines. Definitely a desk style rather than a table top area. It needs to be immediately recognisable as a writing desk/bureau.
    Many thanks, Rob
